This Privacy Policy explains how MyStories (Pty) Ltd (“MyStories”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) collects, uses, and discloses your personal information when you visit or make a purchase from mystories.co.za (the “Site”), or when you use our MyStoriesPrint services.

  • In accordance with lawful and reasonable instructions

MyStories is not liable for damages arising from loss, theft, or unauthorised use of personal data, except as provided under POPIA.

2. Device Information

Examples: Browser version, IP address, time zone, cookies, and browsing behaviour.

Purpose: To load the Site accurately and analyse usage.

Disclosure: Shared with WooCommerce.

3. Order Information

Examples: Name, billing and shipping address, email, phone number, and payment details.

Purpose: To process orders, arrange delivery, provide updates, and prevent fraud.

Disclosure: Shared with WooCommerce, Payfast, courier companies, printing partners, and authorised service providers.

4. Customer Support and Project Information

Examples: Contact details, manuscripts, illustrations, images, and project files.

Purpose: To prepare, print, and deliver books, and provide support.

Disclosure: Shared only where necessary with printers, illustrators, editors, and delivery partners.

5. MyStoriesPrint – Customer Content and Files

Customers may submit stories, illustrations, images, and related materials.

These files are used solely for:

  • preparing layouts

  • editing, writing, or illustrating where requested

  • printing and delivering books

  • storing print-ready files for future reprints

  • providing customer support

Customer content is treated as confidential and will not be sold or shared for unrelated purposes.

Files may be shared with trusted printing partners, illustrators, or editors where required to fulfil the order.

MyStories may retain production files for operational purposes. Customers remain responsible for keeping their own copies.

MyStories may use professional design software and AI-assisted tools to prepare projects where requested.

6. Confidentiality

Customer manuscripts, illustrations, and personal content are treated as confidential and will not be publicly shared without permission, except where required to fulfil the order or by law.

7. Checkout and Website Usage

We may collect:

  • products viewed

  • IP address and browser information

  • shipping address

This helps process orders and improve our services.

Cookies may be used to remember cart contents.

8. Information Provided at Checkout

You may provide:

  • Name and contact details

  • Billing and shipping address

  • Payment information

This information is used to process orders, provide support, and comply with legal requirements.

We do not store full credit card details.

9. Children’s Information

Information relating to children is collected only where voluntarily provided by a parent or legal guardian for the purpose of creating books.

10. Who Has Access

Authorised MyStories staff may access order and project information to fulfil orders and provide support.

  • WooCommerce

  • BobGo

  • courier companies

  • Payfast

  • printing partners

  • independent illustrators or editors

  • Mailchimp (if subscribed)

Only required information is shared.

12. Payments

Payments are processed securely via Payfast or EFT. MyStories does not store credit card information.

13. Data Storage and Security

Information may be stored on secure computers, cloud storage, email systems, and hosting platforms.

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but absolute security cannot be guaranteed.

14. Data Retention

Information may be retained to:

  • fulfil orders

  • support customers

  • enable reprints

  • comply with legal obligations

Customers may request deletion where permitted by law.
