Welcome to MyStories (Pty) Ltd. These Terms and Conditions outline the rules and regulations for the use of our website, mystories.co.za.

Throughout the site, the terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to MyStories (Pty) Ltd. By accessing or using any part of the site and/or purchasing something from us, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service, including any additional terms, conditions and policies referenced herein or available via hyperlink. These Terms apply to all users of the site.

If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not access the website or use any services.

1. Overview of Services

MyStories is a South African business that creates and publishes personalised children’s books, and provides professional layout and printing services through MyStoriesPrint. Each MyStories book is uniquely customised based on the name and selected features of the main character.

Our website is hosted on WooCommerce, which provides the online e-commerce platform through which we offer and sell our products and services.

2. Order Processing & Delivery

Orders are processed and sent to our printers within 1–5 business days, typically on Monday and/or Thursday mornings.

Printing takes an additional 4–7 business days, including a quality check. If any issue is found, the book will be reprinted (allow an additional 3–5 business days).
Delivery takes 1–5 business days within South Africa, using The Courier Guy or similar.
International delivery takes 15–30 business days, depending on destination and customs clearance. Please note, international shipping does not include Customs/Duty/Taxes or insurance.

You will receive email updates throughout the process, including a follow-up email after delivery. Tracking is provided via BobGo.

3. Product Representation

Colours may vary slightly from screen to printed book.
Each book is hand-bound, and minor imperfections (e.g. small spine dents) may occur.

4. Returns & Refunds

Due to the customised nature of our products, we do not offer refunds on processed or printed orders.

Refunds or replacements will only be issued if the product is defective or damaged:

Notify us within 7 days of receiving your order at info@mystories.co.za
Include your order number and clear colour photos of the issue
Retain all packaging materials for inspection

5. Cancellations

You may cancel your order before it goes to print for a full refund.
If printing has begun, only the shipping fee will be refunded.
Once your order is shipped, cancellations are no longer possible.

6. Vouchers & Marketing

Voucher and discount terms are set by MyStories and may be cancelled if misused.
We reserve the right to use the book cover or elements of your order for marketing purposes.

7. Bundle Discounts

Bundle deals are valid for a set period and cannot be combined with other discounts unless stated.
We reserve the right to cancel or change bundle deals at any time.
Misuse may result in cancellation of your order.

8. Optional Tools & Third-Party Links

We may offer tools or link to third-party websites. Use of these is at your own risk and subject to their terms. We do not monitor or endorse third-party content.

9. Accuracy of Billing and Account Information

You agree to provide current, accurate information for all purchases. We may cancel or limit orders at our discretion.

10. Personal Information

Your submission of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, in line with South Africa’s POPIA Act.

11. Disclaimer of Warranties; Limitation of Liability

Use of our site and services is at your own risk. All products and services are provided “as is” without warranties. MyStories will not be liable for any indirect or consequential damages.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless MyStories, its employees and affiliates, from any claim or demand arising from your breach of these Terms.

13. Severability

If any part of these Terms is found unlawful or unenforceable, the remaining sections will remain in effect.

14. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend access to our services at any time for breach of these Terms.

15. Entire Agreement

These Terms, along with our policies, constitute the full agreement between you and MyStories.

16. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of South Africa.

17. Changes to Terms of Service

We may update these Terms at any time by posting changes on our website. Continued use of the site constitutes acceptance.

18. MyStoriesPrint: Writing, Editing, Illustration, Layout, and Printing Services

MyStoriesPrint is a service provided by MyStories (Pty) Ltd that offers professional writing assistance, editing, illustration assistance, layout preparation, and printing of original children’s books supplied by customers. MyStories may also assist in creating illustrations and written content directly, or facilitate connections between customers and independent illustrators, editors, or other creative professionals.

By submitting text, illustrations, ideas, or other materials, the customer confirms that they hold the necessary rights, licences, and permissions to use and print all submitted content, including AI-generated content, and accepts full responsibility for it. MyStories reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to refuse or cancel any project that contains unlawful, infringing, harmful, offensive, or inappropriate material, or that does not align with the MyStories brand and values.

Where MyStories provides writing, editing, illustration, or layout assistance, these services are performed based on the customer’s input and instructions. A digital proof will be provided prior to printing, and it is the customer’s responsibility to carefully review and approve all text, spelling, images, and layout. Once approval is received, MyStories cannot be held responsible for errors, omissions, or content present in the approved version.

Where MyStories connects customers with independent illustrators, editors, or other service providers, these individuals operate independently. Any agreements regarding ownership, usage rights, timelines, quality, and payment may be subject to separate arrangements. MyStories is not responsible for the conduct, timelines, performance, or contractual obligations of independent service providers.

All original text and illustrations supplied by the customer remain the property of the customer. Any layout, formatting, or production files created by MyStoriesPrint remain the property of MyStories. Print-ready production files will remain in the possession of MyStories and may be retained for the purpose of fulfilling future reprint orders placed through MyStories. These files are not automatically supplied to customers unless agreed in writing.

MyStories will not sell, license, or reuse customer-supplied stories or illustrations for any purpose other than fulfilling the customer’s order. However, general writing techniques, templates, illustration methods, and production processes developed by MyStories remain the intellectual property of MyStories.

MyStories is not responsible for print quality issues resulting from low-resolution or poor-quality files supplied by the customer. Colour and print variations may occur due to differences between screens and printed materials.

MyStories may photograph or display printed books created through MyStoriesPrint for portfolio, website, or marketing purposes, unless the customer specifically requests in writing that their project remain private.
